The audio sort of sucks... but what do you expect from 1963...!

In my opinion that was not made in 1963, some of those things, a lot in fact that he was speaking of had not come to pass or even known then. I think its far more likely it was pretty recent and recorded to sound like it was old to me
Sorry honey but i didn't buy that one.

hunh... Well I think it is valid. I always liked Paul Harvey. You can take the communist manifesto and with a little forward thinking...imagine what they would try and do to in the future to break down the family, etc. What schools would be like, what would TV be like, etc. George Orwell could visualize it, why not Paul Harvey? Enlighten me..

hmmm ok a few things he says as its supposed to be 1963 and thats 50 years ago. Do as you please ? hmmm maybe then but stricter than now, still god fearing even.... our father which art in Washington then says the devil will caution against patriotism ... a contradiction ? TV smutt mmm ok but really not in 63 it was still very innocent yet but could see that getting worse sure... tranquillise with pills etc ... not in the 60s thats a much later thing not even known then and LSD was still legal ..... ratings and media, maybe but thats an 80s boom but ok can live with that call.... drug sniffing dogs yes metal detectors at every school door ... no nothing even to suggest it then ..... prisons overflowing no not then its only recently its balooned ..... pastoral abuse of children ... not really a thing then or for another 30 odd years accepted .....STD diseases of which there is no cure... nothing then suggested of aids not even close....
Im not saying he didnt give a good speech only I dont think it was 63... maybe 93 or 2003 or even 83 maybe but unlikely 63 and its too spot on to be that prophetic for me.
interesting it was tho so thanks

I searched and it is obvious that Paul Harvey did write this speech and almost all references on the internet say that it was originally broadcast on ABC Radio on April 3rd 1965. This is apparenlty a very well known broadcast by him and it apparenlty nothing new. I found websites who posted this back in 2002. I only found one reference that says it was broadcast on 3/8/93. But this could very well be a "re-broadcast" on ABC in 93. There is no doubt that the audio is authentic and that doesn't seem to be in dispute anywhere (with the exception of Victor or course). The audio is of poor quality and actually does sound like other recordings from the 60's. I would think that if it was from 1993, it would be of MUCH better quality. I will coninue to dig on this issue, but as it stands now.. I am leaning towards original for 65 based on the quality of the broadcast that is NOT in dispute anywhere.
HERE IS THE TRANSCRIPT ALSO:
If I were the devil, I would gain control of the most powerful nation in the world; I would delude their minds into thinking that they had come from man's effort, instead of God's blessings; I would promote an attitude of loving things and using people, instead of the other way around; I would dupe entire states into relying on gambling for their state revenue.
I would convince people that character is not an issue when it comes to leadership; I would make it legal to kill unborn babies; I would make it socially acceptable to take one's own life, and invent machines to make it convenient; I would cheapen human life as much as possible so that the life of animals is valued more than human beings; I would take God out of the schools, where even the mention of His name was grounds for a lawsuit; I would come up with drugs that sedate the mind and target the young, and I would get sports heroes to advertise them; I would get control of the media, so that every night I could pollute the mind of every family member with my agenda; I would attack the family, the backbone of any nation.
I would make divorce acceptable and easy, even fashionable. If the family crumbles, so does the nation; I would compel people to express their most depraved fantasies on canvas and movie screens, and call it art; I would convince the world that people are born homosexuals, and that their lifestyles should be accepted; I would convince the people that right and wrong are determined by a few who call themselves authorities and refer to their agenda as politically correct; I would persuade people that the church is irrelevant and out of date, and the Bible is for the naive; I would dull the minds of Christians, and make them believe that prayer is not important, and that faithfulness and obedience are optional; Hmmm... I guess if I were the devil, I'd leave things pretty much the way they are. Good day.

Interesting the transcript differs a lot from the recording honey in the words used. Maybe it was rehashed in wording later after the original. If you doubt there's a difference listen and read the transcript at the same time. They are definably not the same words but of the same basis.
Transcript Meaning and Definition
(n.) A written version of what was said orally; as, a transcript of a trial.
(n.) A copy of any kind; an imitation.
(n.) That which has been transcribed; a writing or composition consisting of the same words as the original; a written copy.
Its also had an overlay of background music and not hard to make a recording sound old and include that also. To me 1993 sounds much more likely for the vid recording but based on the original transcript from 63 and updated ...

School metal detectors in 63? why not...
dig this from wikipedia
The first industrial metal detectors were developed in the 1960s and were used extensively for mining and other industrial applications. Uses include de-mining
(the detection of land mines
), the detection of weapons such as knives and guns, especially inairport security
, geophysical prospecting
and treasure hunting
. Metal detectors are also used to detect foreign bodies in food, and in the construction industry
to detect steel reinforcing bars
in concrete and pipes and wires buried in walls and floors.

I haven't listened to the speech while looking at the transcript; but, it's a possibility that the speech was made in '65 and someone else made a video out of it much later....old speech+new video combined....also, regarding different words in speech vs transcript...maybe someone did a crappy job with the transcript...lol

I probably need to clarify that the part that I printed/pasted was from the following site and they don't really call it a "transcript". I labeled it a transcript and probably shouldn't have. It looks like from the link that the version I put on here is actually the one from 1993 and not the transcript from the original. Here is the link..

I think it had to be from the 80s or later, because he said if he were the devil, he would keep doing what he was doing. Prior to that, he mentioned getting diseases from sex to which there are no cures. This (in my opinion) was a clear reference to AIDS. I think it was probably broadcast somewhere between the 80s and sometime in the 90s. (Yes, my opinion based on nothing but supposition...lol.)
RE: If I Were The Devil: Paul Harvey 1963. WOW! - Honey - 03-22-2012 04:25 PM
Well. I am still sticking with my first opinion. I have googled and googled and there is apparently NO DISPUTE that the original was April 3rd, 1965. This is not in controversy anywhere and I would guess that it has been re-posted, but pretty much the same as the original. This particular thread seems to be the only place where there appears to a controversy or doubt about the issue. It is not at all far fetched in my eyes for him to see these things may come to pass. He was in the media and my guess was that he had heard these things "first hand" from some leftist elites at the time which may have been the impitous behind his speech to begin with! After all, there were others even before that time that were working towards these goals. This has been going on since the beginning of our country in small steps. The breakdown of family values, religion, etc. didn't just start in 1965 or after and if you think it was all roses before 1965, it wasn't. Look back to 1929 and even further. Progressive Income tax, Jekyl Island and Federal Reserve, Bohemian Grove, The New Deal, Welfare, Social Security, Public Schools, etc. The list goes on and on.

Regardless of when it was done, it was incredible insight. It's almost like Ron Paul's predictions from 2002 where he "foresaw" everything that has happened in the past ten years. Thank you so much for sharing it. I used to love listening to Paul Harvey and just hearing his voice again made me smile.

Thanks KYnts! That is a very good point and an interesting one. Both the Ron/Paul (funny hunh...) speeches seem to suggest that their positions in politics and the press allowed them to be privy to such information. I suppose you could spend a day hanging out with a bunch of senators and at the end of the day, want to take a trip to the moon for the rest of your life.... or end up in Betty Ford Clinic!
