remember paper is for trading, physical is for holding
my friends brother bought over 100K worth of AGQ at around $100, it shot up to $180 and he never sold, now its around $40 and he is 60K in the hole.
my friend is a physical holder and he always argues with the brother who has a monster box but the rest in paper silver. the brothers defense is that he can enter or exit a position instantly unlike physical but he did not heed his own advice by exiting and skimming some profits.. physical, he claims, will be difficult to unload quickly and in large quantity, my argument is that paper is for trading and making money, he is using it as a core position. __________________ retired in 2009 at 39 years old |

RE: remember paper is for trading, physical is for holding
I just don't know enough about trading paper so I won't even go there. Also.. Holding has worked out for me over the years! I also know where it is, that it exists and I can even carry it around with me if I want.

Just like last night I took a trade in the russel and made a quick $70.00 trading one contract, I was out and now its morn and looking for a trade setup now in the russel! IMHO this is the only way to trade paper! |

Like the title said "paper is for trading, physical is for holding", you will gain from both trading papers and holding physicals. People should, at least, know how to trade paper. Knowledge is power.

RE: remember paper is for trading, physical is for holding
For me it is just too risky - one quick event, rumor, super computer trade, JPMorgan or whatever and in the blink of eye it is gone. I'm with Honey - I can see it, hold it, and move it around. The big crash in '98 was Russia defaulting on its bonds. Who knows what will go wrong? People had no idea until it was too late.
