hardcore pawn(Detroit)
I just watched some episodes of this show., First of all its shocking for me to see the poverty and health of some of this people that seems to frequent that pawnshop, although i realize its not a median barometer of the US population.
What the show clearly display is the falling prices of collectibles like sport-cards, handbags etc.. I see this guys selling their treasures really cheap, stuff they believed had significant values, just to pay some freaking stupid medical bills! makes me upset! So OK they getting abit ripped off yeah., but on the other hand could this be an important trend factor? Is Detroit the future model of an US city, like where you see huge stores where people try to change real goods into fiat to cover everyday costs and goods hoarded into a few hands(like in this case the gold fam)? On the last note, could the girl Aston(name?) be for real? I mean it look pretty scripted to me, how on earth can she be so stupid all the time? crazy stuff indeed, i pray for you all Detroiters out there!

RE: hardcore pawn(Detroit)
I would venture to guess that ALL of these "reallity" shows are scripted. They set up stupid scenarios to make the shows interesting.

Quote:like where you see huge stores where people try to change real goods into fiat to cover everyday costs They aren't really changing real goods into fiat. They are changing real goods into bill payments. Since their bill collectors only take fiat, fiat is an intermediary. It doesn't matter that fiat isn't backed by real goods in this case since they are just turning around and spending it right away anyway. Even 10% annual inflation doesn't matter if the fiat is only held for a day or less. |

They should have gotten a job and had insurance had they not wanted to pay thousands of dollars in medical bills. There are also plenty of programs for Low Income or No Income people, to where they don't have to go and sell their personal belongings. To answer the rest of your questions, that is Detroit. The worst city in America right now. I never considered a difference of opinion in politics, in religion, in philosophy, as cause for withdrawing from a friend. -Thomas Jefferson To achieve Liberty and Peace two powerful Human emotions must be overcome. Number one is Envy. Number two is Intolerance. - Ron Paul I believe Banking Institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies - Thomas Jefferson People willing to trade their freedom for temporary security deserve neither and will lose both. - Benjamin Franklin |

RE: hardcore pawn(Detroit)
I saw the other night (or rather did not see) invisible Robert. LOL. . I think most that are pawning and selling are a bunch of crack addicts sorry to say. Those are some really depressed economy's in that neck of the woods and looks like some very desperate ppls. I sure they pay some of them for their skits for the program.

![]() Well for me in a little cuddled country in north of EU it is a bit of an eyeopener anyway., maybe you guys see the symtoms more frequent than i do. I'll take my lesson from this: Sell out all my stuff. Just get rid of it. No one will ever pay my own fantasy ebay-cooked prices when we hit bottom. ...and note to self. Dont ever become a crackwhore addict with a bunch of fejk LV-bags in detroit

RE: hardcore pawn(Detroit)
haha., thnx Honey for putting it right
fejk(swedish spelling same word)=fake., LV=Louis vuitton. The worst was this guy in his mid 40s coming in to sell his collection of sportcards, the collection probably cost him a fortune to get together and he seemed to have spended thousands of dollars on it, so he asked for 2400usd., but got bargained down to 600usd. I cant imagine u get that terrible deal when selling ure collection of perth mint coins

If those ppl selling only knew the power of the internet that item would have brought the seller a much bigger piece of the pie, put it on the bay or someplace. No doubt that is what American Jewelry and Loan (hardcore pawn) is doing w/it. Sharks!
