Gulp. We like gold, too. Someday we hope to trade a portion of our silver into gold.

RE: dont we like gold too?
Likely purity. The stuff on the right looks like older stuff that was meant for circulation so it will be mixed with other metal content.

gold coins colour will depend on purity. a lot intended for circulation as mojo says will be typically .917 not 999 or even 800 with older coinage, saves losing the gold if its been made harder for usage. Just like junk 90% silver.

You can tell the alloy mix usually from its colour
http://gold.yabz.com/facts.htm

An example would be British sovereigns are 917 and the Australian kangaroo or canadian maple are 999. You can see at a glance the difference.

I like gold for its portability but prefer silver for everything else Smile

RE: dont we like gold too?
I have some gold. I maintain about 20%. I always keep stacking silver, however when my percents get too far out of line i buy some more gold. I think silver is going to be the big play. However i do think you should have between 10%-20% gold IMO. If you have more than that, wait for the right arbitrage play and get more silver.

I am half half. As much as i love silver, we all know how manipulated it is. Assuming we lose that battle somehow, i want a good position in gold.

RE: dont we like gold too?
I am really having to be disciplined because I love some of the gold coins. I am trying to stick to silver for now and exchange the silver at some point for gold when the ratio comes way down. I traded eight 1 oz gold buffaloes and two 1 oz gold eagles and a little cash last year for a monster box of 1 oz silver coins. Recently, I just bought another gold buffalo. I just had to have one. LOL

RE: dont we like gold too?
I like gold, but I need to see gold to silver at least at 35:1 before I consider substantially beefing up my gold position (40:1 looks like a good spot to take a small bite).

May the best pet win!
