Basically it means they have a guaranteed shipment coming in and they are pre-selling them.

Maybe this will help answer your question honey. Just finished an online chat with an apmex rep. Here is a copy paste of our conversation. I edited out my name for privacy.

Please wait for a site operator to respond.

You are now chatting with 'Vitalii'

Vitalii: Thanks for choosing APMEX
Vitalii: How may I help?

Me: Hello Vitalii. Do you know if apmex will be getting in anymore 1/2 lunar II silver dragons at similar premiums to the last two batches that sold out?

(2-3 minute pause)

Vitalii: just a moment

Me: no problem.

(~5 minute pause)

Vitalii: Most likely not

Me: does that then imply that perth's mintage has reached/nearly reached the 500,000 or just that they aren't making their way in to the states any longer? If you can't answer that, no problem

Vitalii: they already minted them all. We just don;t know if we can get more as they are pretty popular

Me: So, it looks like premiums have pretty much bottomed on this coin then. Thanks a lot vitalii :-)

Vitalii: You are welcome

Me: Have a good evening, bye

Vitalii: YOu too

I think the 1/2 oz Lunar II Dragons may develop more numi value than any other coin we've purchased. I could be wrong, I want more but we may have to rein it in for a while.

i got 210 coins from apmex. i got 10 in one order along with some of the 2oz dragons. they're cute little coins so i have another 200 on their way. to be honest, they're ok but the 2oz is way more beautiful.

The bigger dragons are nice, but they don't get the premiums of the 1/2 and 1 oz...usually. It is not uncommon to see a half ounce lunar series 1 coin selling for 45 bucks.

On a scale of pretty to prettier though, I'm with you. The bigger coins make it easier to appreciate the detail.

provident has somewhere between 200-250 remaining. I like how the price keeps creeping up despite spot creeping down, lol.

I purchased 8.. and down to 6. Gave away 1 coin to a close family member who is just getting started on his love of silver and another for a good family member for his birthday (he loved it also!). I told them not to take it out of the plastic case. You can just tell... They spin it around and around.. try to flip it through their fingers like a Magician.. and have this quirky smile on their face.

It is magical...

I am going to have to get some more..Blush

23. One more would have resulted in a higher shipping bracket, though with the premium increase that has already happened, the shipping would have already been paid for had I gotten more. I actually like the smaller size. More detail packed into the space.

2oz might have a future in premium land a few years from now. 10 oz, not so much. It will get a premium, just slower.

RE: The Half Ounce Lunar Dragons Are Selling Faaaaast
So, it recently came to my attention that i was misled by gainesvillecoins in to thinking the mintage of the 1/2 oz dragons was set at 500,000. That meant i, in turn, was misleading people here in to believing the mintage was 500,000. I have since apologized for that. At first i saw this as a negative, but not as a big enough negative to make me regret buying as many of these as i could. However, i now see it as a big positive for us. i did some reading and put on my thinking cap and i have come to the conclusion that this is actually an extremely good turn of events. From what i've read only the 1 oz and 1 kg coins can be minted past the first year until the series closes. All the rest stop production at the end of the year. The 1kg is unlimited, so it could be produced all the way to the end of series II and the 1 oz is already maxed, so no more of those can be made. Ya, technically that means there could be tons of 1/2 oz dragons made this year, but is that realistic? Not based on what i've seen so far. At the arguably most popular dealers in the united states(apmex, gainesvillecoins, providentmetals) they have sold maybe 10,000 coins combined so far with another 3,000 in inventory. The perth mint lists the total sales for each year. Below are the mintages for the last three years of available data for the 1/2 oz silver lunar coins.

The 2008 1/2 oz mouse sold 17114
The 2009 1/2 oz Ox sold 17674
The 2010 1/2 oz tiger sold 50,035

You can check these numbers for yourself by going to the below link. Also note that all the 1/2 oz coins are listed as unlimited but actually sold far far fewer than their 1 oz counterparts.
http://www.perthmint.com.au//documents/T...-_2010.pdf

Lets assume the 1/2 oz dragon is five times as popular as the tiger. That is still only a mintage of 250,000. Unlimited mintage may be seen as a detractor right now because of uncertainty, but history tells us not to be worried and actually that we should be encouraged, because it means we are looking at, PROBABLY, a lot fewer than 500,000 of these coins.

The only thing i am not 100% positive of is if the 1/2 oz really cant be minted past the year of it's issue. Until i get a perth mint rep to tell me that in writing, i can't promise it is accurate.

Assumptions are the most dangerous things in the universe.
