those masers and milsurps have really gone up in price, i had a C&R license for a while and was buying mausers/enfields/sks for under $100 a pop.

i also just added another airgun, i have 5 now, i think they can very valuable from a survival standpoint.

Love your Mosi Nagant. A few weeks ago I was helping at a Ron Paul booth at a gun show. A kid and his dad came up to the booth and were talking to us. The dad had just bought the kid a real nice Mosin. Arsenal refinished I believe. That kid was soo proud of his rifle, I was soo jealous. I'm going to get one one day.

Russian Refurb's are pretty popular up here in Canada. So are Norinco Chinese military surplus, unissued (type 56 - SKS, not AK). Cheapest I've seen is $150 CAD new (before taxes). Average seems about $200.

How about surplus, corrosive 7.62x39? You're looking at about $0.20-22 CAD a round (with the Canadian dollar close to par to the US).

The Mosins are a good & simple design, just forget about using their "safety."

I'm thinking that SKS are running at least $300 and up depending on grade and country of origin. But... all of ours hold at least 10 rounds, the way they were meant to be. (I hear you Canadians do have good prices on a lot, including VZ57s and norinco M1As...)

If there's one blessing about being in Canada, it's that we don't have a ban on Chinese/Norinco firearms. The Chinese have been getting better and better and the prices are dirt cheap, too. Every year, their quality improves to the point that you'd hardly be able to tell the difference between one of their knock off's and the equivalent American/European ones.

There 1911's are very good. Same with their AR-15's. There 870 knock-offs are also excellent.

Unfortunately we have stupid magazine restrictions, but quite honestly, anyone with a hammer and punch can easily undo most of them... if they're willing to break the law, of course.

If there's any Canadian's thinking of getting guns as an investment, this looks like a smoking deal - and the cheapest I've found for the Chinese SKS's.

When the long gun registry is abolished, I think there will be a fairly substantial increase in demand for low cost, non-res rifles (especially one's popularized by video games and war movies).

I'm sure (if you weren't banned from CGN like I am), you could flip these and book a $30-60 profit per rifle immediately. I can't see prices for them going down either. Like all things, the input costs to get them into the country are going up and even if there's another big wave like the one's Marstar brought in, I doubt the going price will be this low a year or two from now.

Sounds like your gun laws are very similar to the gun laws here in Canada but your community of gun owners is quite large in comparison.

There's officially about 8 million "registered" guns in Canada for a country of 33 million - that's 24 guns/100 people compared to Finland's official 32 guns/100. I'd be willing to put the number of actual guns in Canada in the 10-15 million mark, but noone really knows.

That said, you'd better get a license and get your guns while you still can. If Canada is a good example of what happens with gun control:

1) When people are complacent, gun laws get worse.
2) The more people who lawfully obtain firearms who are unwilling to let them go, the more difficult it becomes for politicians to implement stricter gun laws.

It looks like Finland has a gigantic shooting community, and unless you're somehow disqualified for some reason, I STRONGLY suggest you legally procure a gun.

Free men own weapons. Slaves do not.

While you are able to own a weapon, you know you have SOME freedom. That's not to insinuate free men are murderers or violent individuals, but rather that when government forms a monopoly of anything, they perpetrate the most hideous crimes.

Citizens owning weapons means the government does NOT hold a monopoly on the tools of force and so, do not have an unlimited capacity to employ force against it's citizens. Much like owning silver, owning a gun itself is a non-violent way to stand against tyranny of governments with excessive power.

By the way, it looks as if getting a gun license in Finland is a lot easier than getting one in Canada. I don't like talking about my guns, but suffice to say, I as a Canadian have a gun collection that would probably put a lot of the Americans to shame.

I'm not saying you should go and do likewise, or even that you should entertain in your mind for one second the idea that owning guns you as an individual will somehow be able to overthrow a tyrannical government (you won't). What I'm saying is if you want a hedge your self against tyranny, while you still can, you need to get a gun.
