This is absolutely not a generic silver bashing post. Think of it more as a defense of numismatic beauty. I own all types of silver. This is the most ungeneric overpriced silver i own. Way too expensive and WAY too beautiful.
I just hope this side by side comparison might help some of the generic only crowd appreciate why someone MIGHT want to try some of the numismatic potentials, etc. I present to you the perth mint 2011 santa maria from the ships that changed the world series vs a generic bar:

RE: Not all silver created equal.
this is a phenominal coin!, it sold from the perth mint for about $100, and is now about $150, if i liked the rest of the set as much as this coin i would buy it no question..

The santa maria is the best out of the four that have been released. I've seen the mayflower coin in person and it doesnt come close. The water looks weird on the mayflower. I don't like the other two(golden hind and constitution) because of the ship dimensions. The santa maria though, good lord. It is just so pretty. |

RE: Not all silver created equal.
You can see the difference in the quality of the metal thats a great coin. I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to quality, maybe not a snob I just like nice things and can usually tell the difference no matter what product we're talking about.
That's why I like the TAKU Good value coin and good quality silver. a lot of bullion is .999 but its my personal opinion that it aint all exactly the same in quality some things just have that little bit extra. An earlier thread entitled' Beauty of 2011 vs 2012 Silver Eagles' by dave606 people ridiculing his post in a sense as to why silver quality is less on the 2012 coin. Does anyone know if there is a different supplier this year as far as i'm aware the USmint imports alot of the industrial silver to make their ASE's so who knows if they have been using a different refiner. Also Eagle sales are soaring so they need as much as they can to cope with the influx of orders from each merchant globally. Now i've not seen the 2012 ASE but i've plenty of 2011 and I think they just feel, sound and look superb. I'll have a close look at the 2012 when I get some. I know that alot of folk say silver is silver and they are just going to sell there stack but lets be honest we wouldn't be buying all these beautiful coins if they weren't precious and of a very high standard. I know for sure some silver is of a better stock than other silver Nature has its ways. Kind Regards MattJ Whence come I and whither go I? That is the great unfathomable question, the same for every one of us. Science has no answer to it. Max Planck |

You can find them on ebay. There are usually 3-5 of them posted at any given time. After shipping, you can get them for anywhere from 110 to 150 dollars. |

RE: Not all silver created equal.
You are correct, the mayflower is NOT as pretty as this coin. They messed up the water on the mayflower coin.
