No Man Can Serve Two Masters
We have to take care to remember this.
“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. Do Not Worry 25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[e]? 28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6 The fact that we must work in this monetary system of smoke and mirrors angers me at times; it tempts me to seek more than I need. What really frosts me is that peoples very lives depend on this system as they have so little and the elites care not a wit about this fact. Anyway, I look foward to the day that I can toss my stacks at the feet of the King of Kings! It is all belongs to Him! My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1-2 |

RE: No Man Can Serve Two Masters
Nice post. Funny thing. Our pastor was just talking about this passage last Sunday.
I can't wait for the day when these corrupt bankers, traders, illuminati, elite, etc. take a big fall ... and it will happen soon enough. We can help by continuing to do what we do and give all the glory to God. Continue to pray for all people that they may come to find the Lord and open their eyes to the evil and deception that surrounds us. Many blessings to you! |

I have been living by faith for years serving the Lord and I can say he does know how to take care of his own.

RE: No Man Can Serve Two Masters
I hope that I have a crown to cast at his feet. I know I can't bring my silver with me, and that it will melt with fervent heat, along with the earth it will burn up in the day of the Lord. (2 Peter 3:10 KJV)

RE: No Man Can Serve Two Masters
Some good thoughts - I think the Bible encourages us to be wise in financial matters, most likely not for our own benefit. I am a post trib guy and believe silver will help my family and others through some tough times.

RE: No Man Can Serve Two Masters
I'm venturing into this forum against my better judgement(I avoid religious topics since they almost never end well) because I saw this title and couldn't help the thought that popped in to my head....
Why? Why can't we serve two masters? Other than because the bible says so. People work two jobs all the time. We have debt obligations to, sometimes, dozens of different entities. Serving one thing to the exclusion of all else seems like a recipe for total disaster to me. Assumptions are the most dangerous things in the universe. |

Because we will always love one more than the other. It is not a Bible thing it is a nature thing a man who is double minded is unstable in all his ways, according to James. I don't think working two jobs was the point. Jesus never commanded us to serve God to the exclusion of all else in this world. One verse comes to mind when he said, give unto Caesar that which is Caesar's and unto God that which is God's. The point to the verse the OP showed was where a mans heart is that is where his treasure is. If your heart is into Money then that is what you treasure most. If your heart is into God then he is what you treasure most. Visit my Blog New articles as I can Post them @ http://chettesblog.wordpress.com |

God created markets, they are a law of nature. He also created gold and silver for people to use as money so they can buy and sell and get gain. Say that a father gifts a car to his son on his 16th birthday. The father's gift is meant to enhance the son's life and he expects that his son will use the car as he (the father) intends. But if the son uses the freedom that the car gives him as a means to disobey the rules of his father's household then he shows that he loves the car more than he loves his father. Using another analogy, in the United States elected politicians take an oath of office to uphold the US Constitution. But if they love personal gain more than the ideals set forth in the freedom documents then they will always make the choice to sell out the people they are elected to represent. If their master is personal gain then they will ultimately betray the Constitution. No person can serve two masters because the time will always come when they are at cross-purposes and they will have to make a choice which master to serve. |

RE: No Man Can Serve Two Masters
Love my silver but would happily cast it into the sea to be with the lord. Silver is here to protect me/ family financially in this world but it is not where my hope lies.
