Investment of the Century?
Hi Brother John,
I am so thankful for your videos/blog as it has opened my eyes to so many things with investing in silver being just one of them. My question concerns US treasury bonds. Since the Fed has "agreed" to keep interest rates at Zero through 2014, wouldn't the investment of the century be to short the short-term treasury market since the rate has no where to go but up? This is probably one of the biggest bubbles of all time!! Or, is it possible for these rates to become less than zero thus wiping out this investment strategy? Is it even possible to short the treasury market?? I know that investors in Japan have been killed this way waiting for their interest rates to rise, but didn't the Japanese have (although not anymore) a very high savings rate(which obviously the US does not enjoy) to support their "QE to infinity ZIRP policy"?? We all know that the markets can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent. I am mostly in precious metals now but it seems like rates will have to rise at some point when inflationary pressures become more obvious thus breaking the Treasury "bubble"?? Thanks |
