I know your position on Gold stocks, but if one wanted to venture a few hundred...

I've heard the last Gold Bull market in the 70s brought with it Gold mining stocks that beyond incredible returns, multi hundred percent and even thousand percent gains if I'm rememebring correctly.

I know your position, that these are paper assets subject to MFGlobal type fraud, or possibly subject to being nationalized like the energy company we saw in South America.

Assuming I'm not betting the farm, where to start? How much research is required to pick a decent company? Once a stock is purchased how closely and often must it be monitored? Are there several domestic companies or companies in stable countries in which to invest?
