Potty mouths make sad pandas even more sadder.
As for whether ipads changed the internet or not. You're getting too technical for me. All I can tell you is when I first got my ipad there were a whole lot of places that didn't work properly. Now most of them work just fine. Assumptions are the most dangerous things in the universe. |

I despise all laptops, but especially apple laptops because I find them cumbersome to use and I don't feel like learning a new way to use a computer. Their desktops are absurdly expensive and since I like computer games it's completely non-nonsensical to buy one when I can get a better gaming rig for less than half the cost. I had an ipod for a short time but it's useless now that I have a smartphone. I have an iphone but that was a gift that I very reluctantly accepted because I could tell in the person's face that they would be disappointed if I didn't want exactly that. I'd be perfectly fine with an android or any other phone that made calls. Actually I'd be fine with no phone whatsoever because I hate receiving calls(I find them intrusive and aggravating). RE: I have now seen it all....
Oh, I love Apple products! I debated upgrading to the iPhone from my Blackberry for a long time, but when Siri came out, I could resist no longer. I LOVE IT! I haven't jumped on the iPad wagon because I was always at the office (not anymore...hehe) or at home, so I really saw no need for one.
What I will not do is upgrade every time there is a new release. I'm still using a Dell laptop that is about 8 years old. I've upgraded hardware and software a few times, but it works great. I actually bought another laptop and ended up giving it to my oldest daughter because I liked my old one better. I've decided I'm going to drive my car until it dies, use this laptop until it dies and ditto on the cell phone. I've had it up to my eyeballs with buying stuff. If it isn't silver or to prepare for SHTF, I'm not buying it. |

My point, is Apple's features, were features on other platforms years before Apple had them. Apple invents nothing, but markets old technology REALLY well. The Ipad was old technology marketed well? Seriously? If you want to take some failed experiments that never made it in to the market due to non-existent demand then maybe you could argue that point on a technicality but overall I call bs. There are plenty of arguments you can make against apple without resorting to saying they invent nothing. The storyline of the game halo created by bungie was a mixture of storylines from multiple movies and books but that doesn't mean they didn't 'invent' one of the best games ever. Well, you know what they say: "There's no such thing as an original idea. Every idea worth having has been had thousands of times already." I like my iPhone and I'm glad Apple made it available for me to purchase. Beyond that, I don't really give it a lot of thought. In fact, you cannot imagine how little I care whether they invented or innovated.
So, I have to ask...why does it offend you so much that I like Apple, lol? It's nothing personal. I promise. I rather enjoy your posts.

RE: I have now seen it all....
Oh good! We are the exact same page.
Neither of us cares whether or not the other likes AAPL. That means we are just having a good old fashioned discussion with differing views. I took an advanced management course a few years ago (please don't ask how I ended up in that one...it's a long story) and it was very helpful in understanding why innovative companies are generally more successful than their counterparts. If the odds of an innovative product being successful is 1 in 1000, then the odds of an original idea becoming successful are astronomical. A very good example of what happens when companies are not innovative can be found by looking at the history of the Polaroid Corporation. Polaroid came from seemingly out of nowhere to enter the imaging industry. It launched the first instant camera in 1948. When digital cameras hit the market in the late 1980’s, Polaroid was far behind and never managed to catch up because it had failed to innovate. In 2001, Polaroid Corporation filed for bankruptcy under Chapter 11 and most of the business was subsequently sold. We have seen the same thing happen with Kodak and Xerox, resulting in massive layoffs, downsizing and reorganization. New products are often ahead of their time, and yet as time passes and the idea has time to mature and the technology has time to catch up (and prices drop) then innovation takes over. I don't see that as a bad thing at all, but it is okay with me if you do. ![]() (Checks to see if my reputation has suffered yet.) |

Ok, I'm going to try to remember and respond to the original subject of this thead. hehe
I like the plasic bath tub thing. I first saw this idea on a survival show just recently but couldn't remember what they called it. So I am grateful this came up in this forum. I will be buying one eventually. I have an extra bathroom with a shower and haven't taken a bath for 12 years. Obviously, I won't miss the bath tub! ![]() I think this is a great way to store 100 gallons of drinkable water in 20 minutes time prior to a disaster if given forewarning! I look at this as just another way I can be prepared. How things will unfold no one knows exactly. |

It said the water would be good to drink for...I can't remember...four days or a week, but if it were treated, or you put clorox in it, or even if you filtered it before drinking, as long as you had anti-bacterialized the faucet before filling, or used a food grade hose, wouldn't it last for much longer? I wonder if it would be safe to store 5 or 10 of these in the basement for a year at a time. One could always empty and re-fill with fresh water once a year. I wonder how sturdy they are or if the plastic would break down over time or leach into the water. I wonder....hmmm...I have a lot of questions. |

RE: I have now seen it all....
To original post:
That bladder thing looks cool! To the tablet flame wars, I swore I'd never buy a tablet, and I have 2 iPad's I have to use for work. My brother and Dad bought a BB Playbook, and it seemed quite novel, so I ended up buying a used one yesterday for $180. I can't bring myself to spend $500+ on a rapidly depreciating trinket that has extensive built in obsolescence, is manufactured by slave labour, and the usage of which further develops interdependency between individuals (not that interdependency is a bad thing, per se, just in our time, taken to a very large extreme to the point that meaningful relationships are destroyed by it). $180 for such an item is about right for me, as my primary use is to read the Bible, watch videos, store music, and maybe video conference with my parents. If I spent $500 for something, it better be able to send hot lead down range at or close to supersonic speeds. May the best pet win! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2Ltv9fjVe4 |

Regardless of any supposed shelf life of the 100 gallons of water from the tub faucet, I would think that water would be safer to drink over time than any water taken from a river or stream. If I ever have to store water in one of these plastic bags, I probably would put any water thru a filter first that I planned to drink. Other water for washing, cleaning, etc., wouldn't have to be filtered. It would be interesting to find out a definite answer regarding shelf life of water stored in a plastic bag. Maybe I'll see if I can contact them or do a google on it. Also, you brought up an interesting idea of storing a bunch of these bags in frames in a basement and thus being able to store basically an unlimited amount of water. Great idea! |

Also, even though you treat the water, the liner is not "food grade" so I would be a little nervous about drinking it. I guess one could filter, etc. |

... I was all excited and clicked.... but this is the link I tried before. Nothing... nodda... big white space in the middle of the page where the vid should be.. Must be "flash" and so I can't get it...![[Image: 208xyye.png]](http://i33.tinypic.com/208xyye.png)
I know, I know... probably should have been something to know before i jumped in with both feet at the shiny Apple store. All said and done... it cost more than that by the time you walk out. Ya have to get the case, the car plug, etc.... Thanks also for the heads up on the ipad3!! I hope I'll be good for a while now and won't need a replacement anytime soon. (knock on wood..)

still looking forward to the burst though
