End of the line for the Moose??
While calling to Cache Metals in Toronto to find out about the opening of their new retail location I asked if they were considering having a wider selection of coins to choose from. The answer was not likely and though I am looking for some Moose (Meese) the person I talked to mentioned that they were no longer available from his supplier.

I then chatted with a nice fellow from silvergoldbull and he said that mint usually has two major deliveries or pressings (planchets?) of coins in this wildlife series. The second one for the Moose was several months back and since then supplies of Moose have been from whatever is in stock or other sources – but not the RCM itself.

Now, there may be batches of Moose out there that are quite numerous and that suppliers can get their hands on – but it sounds as if the RCM will not be doing another major shipping of Moose coins.

The Grizzlies have been done for a while – silvergoldbull has managed to get a hold of some from another supplier– but they are selling for about $CDN 40.80 which is more of a premium than I am willing to pay.

Silvergoldbull had about 4 monster boxes of Meese left. That sounds like a lot for a guy like me on a limited budget – but I’m sure it’s chump change for some stackers out there. It’s also very possible that they can source more monster boxes from other sellers – but it sounds like it won’t be the RCM directly.

Does anyone else have any info on the Moose? Are we getting close to the end of the line? Do other dealers still have good quantities?

RE: End of the line for the Moose??
I just checked the Provident Metals web page and the moose coin is available. I think that with the low price of silver it will not be long before the moose coin is sold out.

A herd of Meese sounds nice. If I got a tube of Meese would that be enough for a herd? I guess a monster box could be called a hoard of MeeseWink

One of my favorite websites to purchase coins from here in the US is Gainesville Coins. Their pricing is very competitive and I have had great service with them. Just checked their website and they have the moose available! Today, their price is $2.69 over spot.

What I also like about Gainesville Coins is that they have no minimums.

I have had nothing but great experiences with Gainesville. Very trustworthy, fast and reliable. I have also had great experiences with Provident and Apmex. Heart

RE: End of the line for the Moose??
I went to APMEX and ask for 8,000 moose - seems it was not a problem. I just didn't the $256,000 to complete the buy. I guess there is still a few around. Also checked out Tulving and they had monster boxes of the moose coins. I guess it is still a hoard!

Goldmart already has a higher premium on the Moose than the Cougar, not sure about other sites.

RE: End of the line for the Moose??
I don't think I've seen gainesvillecoins or apmex ever sell out of the moose since they first got listed. If they did it wasn't for long. If you love the coin, go for it, but don't expect it to act like a 2010 lunar tiger or a timber wolf. It won't.

I know it won't be like the timberwolf - the cougar in my opinion is the worst of them so far.

Really? That is surprising? Were the mintages different? I have both coins and I would definately say that the moose kicks the cougar's behind..Blush

Hmmm Huh They either changed it or I saw it wrong. Most likely the latter.

Goldmart is selling the cougar for a $1.00 more than the moose. However, at APMEX there is only 50 cents between the two. The moose is 3.29 over spot and the cougar is 3.79 over spot. Both are in stock.

RE: End of the line for the Moose??
Just checked with silvergoldbull again last night. They were down to 4 monster boxes of Moose - but must have got some from somewhere - they are up into the 10's of thousands again.

RE: End of the line for the Moose??
I bought a tube of moose and a 10 oz NTR bar from SGB on Thursday and received an email on Friday letting me know it has been shipped. Always great service from Silvergoldbull.
