Copper Rounds....
Just curious if anyone is buying copper rounds...
I know most people do not purchase bard bc of the volume and storage issue but what about the rounds?

RE: Copper Rounds....
Silver all the way my friend. Even though copper was once a monetary metal and I would rather have copper than debt, I don't think copper is widely recognized as a monetary metal like it once was. Silver will always be the better option and if you are having trouble affording silver ounces then you can always buy Mercury dimes Wink

Understanding the truth will set you free

RE: Copper Rounds....
The premium on copper bullion is way to high and is not worth it! But if you sort pennies that were minted pre 1982 they are 95% copper!

@ todays copper value of 3.65 per pound and the 5% zinc in the penny @ 0.90 per ponund a 100 pennies melt value is @ $2.41! That $1.41 over face value!

Save a 100 copper pennies and profit 1.41% not bad! No metal can out proform that right now!

I am a penny sorter myself!

RE: Copper Rounds....
Nickels will do just as well. A nickel's value is pretty much one to one with the copper price today. It's the easiest way to buy bllion, any other bullion purchasing is too expensive and penny sorting is to time consuming for some.

Check Coinflation.com for current nickel value.

And there is no hassle or sorting. Just buy a box of nickels and you've bought A little more than $100 in copper bullion!

Yea I am with the nickels, I have some stashed away. They are very heavy though, but I do think they would be like getting the pre 64 coins at face value b/c of the metal content. They are the only coin that is above its face value, so get some nickels and forget about it em. what would it hurt??

RE: Copper Rounds....
i am stacking all pre 83 pennies and all nickels along with silver. if it does come down to barter systems as some believe then i think people would accept copper and nickel along with other things. not everyone will have preped and stacked silver/gold. those people will have to barter with something. i think vendors would accept all kinds of things for their goods food/ammo/gas/water/silver/gold/seeds/camping gear and this list could go on for awhile

RE: Copper Rounds....
In a turbulent period requiring barter I'm not sure copper is going to be seen as valuable. It might, it depends on circumstances. But if industry is dead....copper is not rare or necessary for day to day life.

But it is something most everyone could get their hands on, so who am I to argue?

Assumptions are the most dangerous things in the universe.

RE: Copper Rounds....
O I forgot to mention I did step out of character and bought the Ron Paul Copper Rounds thats it.

Otherwise again I would just stack nickels (1:1 with copper price right now) and pennies (2.5-1 with the copper price) That is rather than pay the crazy premium from the bullion shops. JMHO

RE: Copper Rounds....
I guess there is a small chance that a 3 tier system could get started where 1 unit of gold is worth X units of silver and 1 unit of silver is worth Y units of copper. If you are the kind of person that buys $10,000 or more in metals every year why not buy a small copper round stack? You wont ever make $ on them but with how cheap they are, why not? That being said if you are either trying to make a profit or think of $500 as a huge purchase then I would just stick with silver.

RE: Copper Rounds....
copper has been used as money in the past, why shouldn't we assume that in a crises period that it wouldn't be used again

RE: Copper Rounds....
I went to Provident Metals and you can buy copper pretty cheap: Buy 100, 1 Kilo bar for $15.09 per bar. It might be easier to stack than pennies and faster to collect. For $1509.00 your sitting on 100 Kilo's. Anyone know how many pennies that would be?

When times get real tough, led will be the metal of choice. Mark it down. And that will be used to guard your survival stock. Trade will be in silver like it has been for 3000 years.
