Anyone watching gold?
Gold took off like a rockets and so did my mining stocks
Gold is up over 1600 at the moment - 10:02 am est
My mining stocks are up $2500 in 30 minutes

The jobs report news is probably the culprit

Silver is up but not as impressive as gold so far
maybe silver will catch up

That is a $50 jump in a few minutes. Things are volatile right now. The TSX is down 150 points on the opening same with Dow (down 2%) it is dropping like a rock.

Holy Moly

My mining stocks are now over +$3500 for the day so far

The stocks are still going up even though Silver and Gold are trading a bit sideways since the big run up first thing this morning.

Gold is making new highs on the day at 1620, silver is about to do the same thing

RE: Anyone watching gold?
This weekend is a pivotal weekend with the Bideberg meetings going on. The Webbot says watch June 3rd around 9:18pm as this will be the start of a constipation in the monetary system. It won't be the collapse of the fiat system but it will be a huge problem. This is right in the time of the Asian markets and I would expect they are going to crash which will bring in QE3.

Sunday will be very interesting.

Don't get greedy or over optimistic. Take your 20-30% gain and sell up to 75% of your positions. Use Stop losses to do it automatically. Those shares will come back down depending on the events through next week. Take some profits and when they come back down a bit buy back in.

No, I am a long term guy and these mining stocks have not even started to go up compared to what is to come.

I am not a day trader and have no interest doing that sort of thing

These funds are in my retirement account, I cannot get the funds for two years.

I have almost 2000 oz's right now and I am not strapped for cash
The stock market thing is just for fun and hopefully the funds will be there in 2 years

Taking profits doesn't mean putting the money in your pocket, it means selling the stock and keeping the money in your cash account inside your RRSP. If you put a stop loss on at a price lower than it is right now but is still a profit to you, the computer will sell the stock when it hits that price, it triggers the sell order. The money stays in your account in cash and when the share price comes down and you go back into the red you can buy more and cost average down.

yes, I know how that works
I am not interested in trading and worrying about making moves at the right time
I would rather buy more on dips and not loose my positions

RE: Anyone watching gold?
watching the gold price like a hawk. I'm expecting one more smash down next week, then I will increase my long position and hold it.
EL34, I'm wanting to take a small punt on a gold or silver stock, but I don't know the market that well. Could you recommend a stock for me? Perhaps an aussie mining stock.

I have that feeling, too. I've had it to varying degrees in the past which usually results in me spending a bunch of money buying more supplies. I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on 6 or 8 cases of wellness canned cat food... And a case of nature's Gate natural fluoride free toothpaste.
