I saw those numbers from the mint as well. I am not sure if they are accurate. Apmex's website shows that they have 6,293 of the regular one once 2011 coins in stock. I've got a few, they are beautiful, but I'm going to check with Apmex to find out how they have more in stock then the mint claims were minted.

I should correct, that is not the mint. I'm wondering if that 5,000 number is for proof coins.

That is where I got the numbers. I mistakenly thought it was the mint as well. However, I do not believe they are proof numbers - there is no evidence of that on the website. Apmex does not sell proofs of this coin.

maybe it's a typo on apmex then...as of right now they have 6253 listed as available.
