UNIONTOWN, Ohio — No charges will be filed against a man accused of taking nearly $50,000 worth of gold and silver coins from a parking lot.
The box of valuables had accidentally fallen outside of the Hartville Coin and Jewelry Store and was picked up by a man around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday.
Police said the man had been turned away from the store because it was not open yet.
Surveillance video that captured the man’s image was used in Fox 8′s reports on Friday, and the man’s friends alerted him.
When he returned the coins on Saturday morning, he told police he didn’t realize what he had taken.
The store owner decided not to press charges.
