7 year old Alex was suspended from Mary Blair Elementary School in Loveland, CO for playing an imaginary game that he calls “rescue the world”. Part of the game included him tossing an imaginary grenade into a box with evil forces inside. “I pretended the box, there’s something shaking in it, and I go ‘pshhh.’”
Alex goes on to say that he was pretending to be the hero “so nothing can get out of it and destroy the world”.
His mother, Mandie Watkins said Alex doesn’t understand why pretending to be a soldier is wrong. “I think that when a child is trying to save the world, I don’t think he should be punished for it.”
