Gun owners throughout Illinois need to be aware of what’s happening right now. Late last night Illinois Senate Democrats pushed through last minute legislation that will ban semiautomatic weapons, shut down gun ranges and ban all high-capacity magazines. The bills, HB815 and HB1263, would ban 80% of all guns in Illinois.
The legislation is being pushed thorough in the final weeks of the Illinois Legislators lame duck session, so this legislation is expected to move extremely fast. Many of the politicians who are pushing this bill have nothing to lose, since many of them were voted out of office in November.
If these two last-minute anti-gun bills manage to make their way through the state legislator, most Illinois ranges could be forced out of business; ALL semiautomatic rifles, pistols and shotguns will be banned; and all pump shotguns and rifles will be illegal.
Last night a Senate committee approved two bills; one that would ban the possession, delivery, sale and transfer of semiautomatic handguns and rifles, the other would limit ammunition magazines to 10 or fewer rounds.
The Illinois National Rifle Association says these bills would ban about 80% of the guns on the market.
